Smashing Pumkins to hold Open Auditions to Replace Drummer

As a Chicago boy I thought this was worth posting. Now that drummer Jimmy Chamberlin – the last remaining original member of the Smashing Pumpkins besides Billy Corgan himself – has left the band, Corgan is holding open auditions to find his replacement. Although the Smashing Pumpkins probably jumped the shark years ago, I think that it is a great idea to open the audition process to unknowns rather than going with a pro. After all, Billy himself was just a scraggly kid with a screechy voice before his little Chicago rock band hit it big. It will be interesting to see what kind of turn out he gets. Auditions are scheduled to be held on April 10th in LA. Aspiring rock stars can submit demos, pictures and videos to pumpkinsdrummer@gmail.com.

Thanks for this post! I’ve urged a drummer I know to try out. He’s a crazy high-energy drummer with a fierce creative streak. Could be a good fit!
